This project finished at the end of December.. here is a summary of what this group of young people achieved!
Month 1 – We decided on the name “Ecosocrates” for the film, and looked at different cameras and other equipment we would need. We planned the timeline for the project, and learnt about using the drive and the spreadsheets for reporting, sharing our youthpass tasks, and keeping track of spending.
Month 2 – We launched our Instagram channel, and were really excited to buy the camera we wanted.
Month 3 – 7 We worked on the script, the production plan, and recording the film, while working to connect local young people, and projects in person and through the Instagram channel. We used our project as an umbrella to support Ecosocrates and another project our members started called “Huellas de Agua”
Month 8 – We finished a cortometraje called “VIVIR” exploring ideas of the negative effects of urban living and contrasting this with the beauty and connection you can find in natural places like the Rio Algars. Our aim with the project is to promote nature connecion, ecology, and encourage young people to escape the city. We showed the film at the in-FCTA Film Festival in Terra Alta, we were happy that hundreds of people watched the screening – even though we didn’t win any prize or mention.
Month 9-10 We started planning another event in the area for young people, and although we had fun connecting with people to ask about possible activities and dates, there weren’t enough people, or organisational capacity in our team to make this event happen.
Month 11-12 With the Huellas de Agua group we created a great and well attended event in Arens de Lledó. Everyone in town was very supportive and happy to see young people in the area doing projects. Both Ecosocrates and Huellas de Agua will continue activities in 2025!! The event was in the cinema with a projection of some of the videos our group has made during the project.
Overall we have learnt so much with this project, the collaboration with Boodaville and Furious Content meant that we had professionals guiding us in both project management and technical training in filmaking. The experience of working together and creating the film, organizing events, was an amazing opportunity to learn by doing and has given us skills to go forward in 2025!!
